What version of Java Virtual Machine do I have?

In web browsers the Java Console should show this information. You also need the Java console to see the text representing a solution in pentominoes.

Macintosh
Apple's Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) 2.0 is available for free and is based on Java 1.1.6. Internet Explorer 4.01 on the Mac has an option to use MRJ (if installed) for Java compiling. Netscape 5.0 will possibly also support MRJ 2.0.
Netscape Communicator 4.0.x/4.5
Look under the menu Communicator then Tools to open the Java Console. The Java Console shows the supported version of Java.
Internet Explorer 4.0 / Win 95,98
If there is no Java Console option under the View menu, then go to the Internet Options and under Advanced, in the Java section turn on the Java Console. Click OK and restart your computer. Then back in Internet Explorer, under the View menu, open the Java Console. I've done this and it doesn't say what version of Java is implimented...still looking for a way to tell.
