On Friday, April 16, the graduate student chapter of SIAM sponsored the annual spring picnic. Several graduate students were honored for their exceptional service and scholarship. The recipients and their awards were as follows:
Given to recognize outstanding doctoral students finishing in the current academic year. The award consists of a certificate and a $100 prize. Names are engraved on a plaque displayed in Martin Hall.
Given to recognize outstanding masters students finishing in the current academic year. The award consists of a certificate and a $75 prize. Names are engraved on a plaque displayed in Martin Hall.
Given to recognize outstanding teaching by graduate students. The award consists of a certificate and a $75 prize. Names are engraved on a plaque displayed in Martin Hall.
Given to recognize excellence in teaching by graduate students. The award consists of a certificate and a $25 prize.
Given occasionally to recognize special achievements by graduate students. The award consists of a certificate and a $25 prize. This year, students were recognized for organizing the graduate student seminar.
Presented by the graduate students to a faculty member in recognition of outstanding service in teaching and advising graduate students. The award consists of an individual plaque and the faculty member's name is engraved on a plaque displayed in Martin Hall. This is the inaugural year for the award.
