Currently we are speculating that this ROY line originated from eastern PA or
NY.  There are several ROYs in early 1800's censuses for these areas and a
MD census had John ROY's parents as from PA.  - Robert

   My Roy family starts with James Eldon Roy who came from Carlow County,
Ireland and settled in Canada near the NY border.  His children either
stayed there of migrated to Leelanau County, MI.  There wasn't a John in

   Robert, I don't see any John Roy in my family tree.  Robert Roy and Mary
Ann Wilson brought their family to Fall River, Mass. in 1833.  The
children, born in Antrim County, Ireland were:  James, born in 1816; Mary
Grey, born in 1818;  Elizabeth, born in 1819;  Sarah Jane (my gg
grandmother), born 1822;  Margaret, born 1824;  Ame M., born 1827;
Christiana, born 1829;  Margaret Wilson, born 1831;  and Job Robert, born
in Mass. 1833.  They spread in every direction once they got married.  Hope
you have some luch!
