This file is getting old and needs to be updated. So take some of the
comments might be based on old standings.
Also, this list is not
complete -- there are more names I'm working on.
Last updated 25 May, 1997,
these are the names I'm most interested in or have the most
information about:
- Bounds
- We've found the book on this one and I've entered a lot of the information
from cir 1700 to present, starting on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We don't
have any overseas people yet. The book, The Boundless Bounds, is at the
Wicomico County Public Library, Salisbury, MD in the Maryland Room.
- Evans
- Known in Wicomico County, MD since at least late 1700's.
Someone told me I had William Evans improperly placed as the head of my
collection of Evans descendants. SO I severed that connection and am waiting
on further developments to get things back in shape. I had found many names
at the LDS Family History Center.
- Moneypenny
- Chuck Moneypenny has filled me in on the story behind this name. Now I'm
adding cousins to my database, while he is looking for ancestors in Ireland.
- Risher
- Dennis Risher has a book on this name, or so it seems. So now I'm just
adding cousins. The major unknown is the ancestors of the oldest
Risher/Reisher we have, Peter Reisher, probably back in Germany.
- Toadvine
- The name originated from a misspelling of Tostevin when Nicholas
from Guernsey of the Channel Islands came to Somerset Co, MD, in 1675.
I have received a major amount of information on Nicholas and his
decendants and have been adding to my database things I am fairly certain of.
- Walter
- came from (or were expelled from) Great Britain and settled in
Wicomico County, MD near what is now Bivalve, MD. Oldest I have is born
circa 1795.
For the rest, I'm keeping my ear to the Internet and hoping to stumble on
some information.
- Bogan/Bagan
- Only a few generations ago came from western Ukraine.
- Brown
- The people I have for this name probably go back a long way on the Eastern
Shore of Maryland, but I haven't found someone with a book that I'm pretty sure
would give us some leads.
- Chenoweth/Chenowith
- Only know one person in the Baltimore area, but I'm pretty sure that the
parents were from there also -- just haven't made the connection yet.
- Elliott
- I have identified the one who came from England before 1902. No luck
in England yet.
- Gulaczak
- Only a few generations ago, came from western Ukraine.
- Horner
- Need to find connections to earlier generations on the Eastern Shore.
- Larmore
- I have been contacted by someone with much
info on this name. Adding details to the database as I have time.
- McConnaughy
- The story that I've been told is that three brothers came from Ireland to
New York and one of them (John) came to western PA and started the line that
included my wife. The next connection to make is finding the names of all
three brothers.
- Mouritzen/Moritsen
- Only a few generations ago, these ancestors came from Denmark, so the
next place to turn up further ancestors is overseas.
- Roy
- Only a few generations ago
they came from New York and we've not been able to make any connections there.
- Simms
- I have seen a book on this one: _The Riders, The Simms And All Their Kin_
by Osborne and Margaret Smith Rider. The book doesn't cover all Simms in the
USA, but does go a few generations back in Baltimore.
I there is more information on Simms
descendants that I haven't yet entered, stay tuned.
- Snyder
- Right now all we have are people from western PA. But I'm sure there are
some genealogists lurking out their with information that I could connect this
to.
- Sweesy
- Received information from a relative. Still looking to connect to the
immigrant ancestor, Swasey, Swasie, or variant.
