Nellie Antoinette Toadvine was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). To gain membership she proved her descent from William Toadvine who served in the Wicomico Battallion and fought at Valley Forge.

She did a lot of work on the Toadvine family tree, concentrating on the line from William to Nicholas Toadvine who emmigrated from the Channel Islands in 1675. After Nellie died, Mel Toadvine acquired some of her notes on the genealogy of Toadvine and related names. Upon his retirement Mel offered me those notes plus some of his own. Most of the lineage contained in the notes I received has been entered into my database.
