Essential Characteristics of a Function

Describing Functions

Functions can be described verbally, graphically, numerically (table of values), or by formula.

The Elementary Functions

Linear, power, polynomial, rational, algebraic, trigonometric, exponential, logarithmic

Symmetry in Functions

Functions may be even, f(x) = f(−x); odd, f(x) = f(−x); or neither.
