Welcome! If you have found your way here, you are likely interested in graduate study in Mathematical Sciences at Clemson, or you already are a graduate student at Clemson. One of the best ways to determine which school and/or field to pick is to look at where recent graduates have gone, and so I list below this info for the recent graduates from Clemson who studied Computational Mathematics. You will see that those who studied comp math at Clemson and wished to pursue academic research were able to obtain postdocs at top places, and those who wanted to go to industry and/or labs were able to obtain jobs at great places.

What Clemson's graduate program excels at is giving students a breadth of knowledge across the mathematical spectrum, with an emphasis on the mathematics that is useful to solve modern day problems in research and industry. In short, we teach students math in order to solve problems. Note this dramatically sets us apart from most traditional mathematics programs, where they often teach math for its own sake, and do not concern themselves with the usefulness of that math (or the student who learns it). As you might expect, this gives our graduates a better chance at obtaining lab and industry jobs - and since the academic job market has become very saturated in the past decade, this is becoming more and more important for students.

After-graduation jobs obtained by Clemson Comp Math Students

Prospective students are often interested in where our graduates get jobs - and they should be! A good (the best?) predictor of where you might be a job after graduation is to see where the other students of your advisor got jobs.
